So as I planned my drive from Charleston to Atlanta with a stopover in Savannah, I knew this would be the perfect chance for me to try the famous breakfast-all-day spot. There wasn't any music playing, and it was pretty quiet, though I was still optimistic about the food. The coffee was good but strong, so I mixed in cream and sugar to make it more to my liking.

Not only does it not have the crispy, crunchy breading you're looking for, it's also missing most of its flavor — this chicken is about as bland as it can get. Do you know what you should get the next time you visit, though? Those massive menus can be difficult to wade through, and if you don't know what you're doing, you may get a real flop of a meal. But if you've ever stepped foot in a Waffle House, you know it's a special experience. Admittedly, if you're looking for luxury, it's not the place for you.

Though the chain has a couple of locations in Pennsylvania, which is closer to me in NYC, it's most easily found in Georgia, the Carolinas, and Florida. I definitely preferred Waffle House's hash browns, which seemed to have their crispiness evenly distributed. I was pleasantly surprised by Waffle House's waffles, so I was excited to try one at IHOP, even though the chain is most famous for its pancakes. The outside of IHOP wasn't anything special — it looked like a standard chain restaurant. The inside seemed to have a low-energy environment when I visited, which I wasn't a fan of.
In fact, if you want a waffle that will really knock it out of the park, you absolutely have to try the chocolate chip waffle. The quarter-pound Angus burger starts with the thick patty, which is substantial enough to fill you up even if you're feeling pretty hungry. All of these toppings are essential, but you don't have to stop there if you don't want to. You can also add jalapeños, grilled mushrooms, chili, and bacon. Therefore, you have the opportunity to really deck your burger out. While we love the biscuits and gravy at Waffle House, they can be a little lackluster depending on which location you go to.
IHOP had a bit smaller portion sizes
They're spread out all over on top, melting into the little pockets in the surface of the waffle. You're left with gooey, creamy chocolate that goes perfectly with the thick, slightly crisp waffle. While this dish wouldn't make a whole meal on its own, it can be used as a delicious side dish. Just don't be basic and get your hash browns topped with juicy onions if you want to take your Waffle House meal to the next level. You can definitely dress it up to make it taste better if you're convinced this is what you want, but we would suggest a number of other menu items.
Because of that, it doesn't have the flaky crust you probably want. On top of that, the filling is also likely to be cold and a far sight stiffer than any pie filling should be. Add in the fact that the whole affair is overly sweet and it's clear why the pecan pie isn't our favorite.

That's certainly true when you dig into a sausage, egg, and cheese hash brown bowl from Waffle House. While all of these different elements taste good on their own, they're taken to a whole new level when they're all mixed together in one bowl. First, there's a thick layer of hash browns that provide more than enough carbs for a meal. While we don't love the American cheese in a lot of other dishes, it's pretty good here. Then, scrambled eggs and sausage are piled on top to create a mountain of breakfast goodness.
Sure, you can add egg or cheese, but they're not a part of the base dish. Granted, the sandwich does taste better if you add other toppings and some ketchup or some hot sauce, but you shouldn't have to doctor a dish so much just to make it taste good. Non-allergen items are protein-based, such as bacon, sausage, and grilled chicken. The best entrée option for anyone with a food allergy is the garden salad, which doesn't include milk products.
One secret to crispy waffles is to briefly put them in the oven for a few minutes once they’ve been cooked in the waffle iron. Preheat and spray the waffle iron, cook the batter until golden, and serve with toppings. They were a little crispy for my taste but packed plenty of potato-y goodness. The bacon was good but I thought it was cooked a bit unevenly. While I loved all the crunchy, salty bits around the edges, I wished that the pile was pressed slightly thinner. That would have given it more surface area and more space for browning.
Upon a new suggestion, the Collector goes to play with her, Eda, and King, wanting to show them how much fun he can be and blissfully unaware of how dangerous and potentially deadly his games are. He's unable to understand why his new playmates are hurting him when they start to defend themselves from the mortal games. It doesn't take long for the disheartened Collector to open up to Luz as soon as she approaches him, showing his desperation in wanting someone to understand what he’s been through. When she, along with Eda and King, shows him how they became friends and takes him on a trip around the isles recalling their adventures, the Collector starts to open up more and bonds with them, starting to see a new dimension to friendship he never realized before. Following her triumph over him, Luz came to hold Wrath in low regard as a villain, no longer considering him a major threat. This was seen during her second encounter with him, when she effortlessly defeated while invading the Conformatorium before coercing him into helping her locate the captured Eda.
Post-visit and preparing for the Day of Unity
Luz saves him from the former emperor's blast, dying in the process but not before assuring the Collector that he did good, not wanting the child to be discouraged about trying to befriend Belos the same way she did at one point. When the Collector becomes frustrated about losing every game and goes to sulk in a corner, noticing their sadness, Luz goes to talk to him, managing to get the child to open up about his insecurities and anger of being used and abandoned by everyone they knew. Understanding now how the Collector feels and how he never meant any genuine harm to anybody, Luz takes him on a trip around the Boiling Isles, demonstrating how she bonded with Eda and King and teaching them how kindness and forgiveness goes a long way. During their imprisonment, Luz becomes increasingly infuriated by Odalia's selfishness in helping Belos, and her open disapproval in her and Amity's relationship.

He also displays some affability with Odalia Blight, whom he sees as a maternal figure, despite making her his servant to his whims. When the Collector plays his games with King, Eda, and Luz, he briefly takes the form of a Pac-Man-like creature with a rounded head and a wide, toothy maw. He has tan-yellow skin, bushy white hair and eyebrows, an upward-pointing nose, and a large pale blue blotch that eclipses the left side of his face, giving the right side the appearance of a crescent moon shape. Unfortunately, her friendship with the trio was briefly compromised due to a misunderstanding, leading the group to shun her, which left Luz saddened and depressed over the loss of her new friendships. Since then, Luz has remained very good friends with Viney, Jerbo, and Barcus, with her regularly attending classes with them at Hexside. This friendship would continue to last over the next four years following her enrollment at Hexside and defeating Belos, with all three attending her belated quinceañera.
Season two
As Luz helps Philip pick up his work, she offers to help him but he declines until she says she can help him meet the Collector. When Luz becomes sickened with the Common Mold, her friends help fortify the Owl House. She sends Amity a message with a communication device she gave her, but Amity does not understand. Soon the echo mouse projects an entry about Titan's Blood, an ingredient needed to travel between worlds, at Eclipse Lake.
Collectors
During the war, a Collector (either an Archivist or someone completely unrelated) became the deity of the Trappers under the alias "the Grand Huntsman", implying they were a great Titan killer. Killing the Titans didn't stop the Collectors from collecting other species, which was seen when the Huntsman transformed the Owl Beast into a curse. The Titans were deemed a threat and the Archivists launched a subtle campaign of genocide of the Titans, eliminating all Titans alike from the young to the adults, until one was left.

Luz then spots Hunter and tails him, only for the two to end up in Belos' mind. Lilith and Luz try to survive the Stonesleeper as Philip digs up a reflective disk and teleports away. As they hide, Lilith laments about their deaths before their births as Luz remembers something Lilith said on the beach about Stonesleepers having a ticklish spot behind their ears. When they catch up with him, Luz demands he tells them how the disk will help with the portal.
Gus creates illusions of himself and Luz to distract from the pits tendrils and they escape, damaging the room in the process. However, they run into Eda and Bump, who has agreed to let Luz attend Hexside the following semester, berates Luz for her actions and threatens to recent hire acceptance until Gus takes full responsibility. Following her palisman's birth, Luz managed to regain some of her previous spirit, being noticeably more happy, playful and confident in herself once again, which continued to grow following her heartfelt reunion with King and Eda after enduring months of separation from them.

Eda, King, and Amity set out to find the blood as Willow, Gus, and Hooty look after her. Later, she sees another entry that reveals Eclipse Lake houses Fool's Blood, a volatile substance resembling Titan's Blood. After Gus and Willow fail to hear her, as they are listening to loud sounds in the kitchen, Luz then messages Amity about the Fool's Blood. At nightfall, Luz gets over her illness and greets the three as they return from their failed venture for blood and she hugs Amity.
However Gus, Willow, and Amity arrive and the girls decide to team up with Luz as Gus cheers from the sidelines. Despite her team gaining more points, Boscha wins after catching the Rusty Smidge. Both teams, with the exception of Boscha, congratulate each other, and Luz helps Amity after she hurts her leg. Luz is a kind-hearted, outgoing, eccentric, energetic, and exceedingly geeky girl, who possesses a strong love of fantasy and adventure.
The girls work together to free Eda, and the twins and Eda knock the slitherbeast out. Amity congratulates Luz on learning a new spell and agrees to form a secret book club with her before they go home. Upon returning, they find the aftermath of King and Hooty's battle with animated toys. When Amity and her friends have an Moonlight Conjuring and invite everyone except Willow, Luz, Willow and Gus decide to have one at the Owl House, taking advantage of Eda and King's absence that night. Before leaving, Eda asks Luz to take care of the house, warning her before leaving that if anything happens to the house, she will never trust her again.
When the Archives start to collapse, the Collector helps everyone inside while Luz defeats Belos with the help of Eda and King. Once the villain is defeated and the Collector returns every puppet to normal, he and Luz pinky swear to both keep doing their best and afterward gift her a new portal door so she can come and go between realms whenever she wants. When Luz returns to the Boiling Isles for her birthday four years later, the Collector gifts her with a shooting star show, grateful for everything she's done. Viney, Jerbo, and Barcus are three of Luz's friends and classmates at Hexside, being the first students she befriended following her enrollment.
Once the Collector is released by King, Luz is terrified when witnessing the child splattering Belos against a wall with an effortless tap. She followed King's acting about being a fan of the Owl House game in order to save herself and her friends from the kid's deadly game of tag. Unbeknownst to Luz, Belos survived and actually made his way to the Human Realm. He later possesses Hunter through a wound on his finger, and slowly takes over him. Belos reveals himself to Luz when they are both at the cemetery looking for Titan's Blood, and the duo start fighting each other. When Camila, Vee, Amity, Willow, and Gus arrive later, Belos reveals to them that Luz is the one who helped him meet the Collector, shocking everyone.

The Collector quickly befriended all of them, especially the younger ones, but his fun was interrupted when the Archivists became scared of the Titans' power. They started a war against the Titans and won, with there being only one Titan left, who, mistakenly blamed the Collector and, not wanting him to hurt his still-unborn son, used his powers to seal him away in the In-Between Realm for various millions of years. After this, the Collector makes an honest effort to be kind to people, once Luz shows him how she befriended people like Amity and Lilith through kindness and forgiveness and not through forcing them like he initially thought. However, the Collector took the lesson too much by heart and tried to do the same to Belos, naively assuming anyone could be forgiven. The revelation sees a change in the Collector, as he cries at the fact he hurt many people so carelessly that he shows sadness and empathy for the first time and is devastated for indirectly causing Luz’s death. Furthermore, he reacts in befuddlement to what tears are after his eyes begin producing them, completely at a loss of words for what the feelings mean, never feeling that kind of grief before.
Luz is slightly disappointed that she built up the courage for nothing, prompting Amity to awkwardly allow her to speak. Unsure what to do then, they hold hands and comment on how scary the situation still feels. In "Edge of the World", Luz goes to the Titan Trapper Island along with Hooty and King to find out about King's origins. Later, both Hooty and Luz realize that King is a titan, and immediately hurry off to rescue King. With Hooty's help along the way, the trio successfully escape from the island, and head back to the Boiling Isles. In "Echoes of the Past", Luz tries to get Hooty and Lilith to go along with King's stories about him being the King of Demons, knowing how important it is to him.
After both girls are startled by the kiss, Luz reveals she brought back up and they, along with the twins, go to the Blight's factory. Hooty leads her to a room filled with skulls resembling King's and they see a disk just like the one that Philip dug up. Luz then realizes that King is a titan, and that the Titan Trappers worship the Collector, so they hurry off to warn King.
