I visited this morning, and I liked it, except for one big thing---the Menu. The food is what I would call home cooking, which in this part of the country means foods high in fat, high in cholesterol, high in salt, and high in sugar. For breakfast every morning, its scrambled eggs and bacon, sausage or cinnamon toast. I will show the menu to my cardiologist and get his opinion. She barely speaks English and very rudely said, when I asked why no doctor had seen him in 48 hours, "That's the way it is in long term care, you don't get to see the doctor when you want to." We visited at 11 am Saturday, he didn't even have any water by his bedside. Someone sitting behind the counter--no name tag--looked up from her book long enough to tell me he had not been seen by anyone. She showed me the chart, it was blank, except for the meds he's being given based on the order from the hospital.
I have no idea what the food was like; she didn’t complain about it. We have no idea if there were any activities, or what therapy she received. The staff members we interacted with at the entrance can only be described as rude. It’s impossible to support a program that doesn’t communicate with family members about their loved ones. As soon as we checked her out to take her to another senior living facility with a private sitter service, they reported our family to Adult Protective Services. My guess is that they didn’t like losing a paying customer.
